Why do we need volunteers?
West Footscray Roosters Juniors is a community club run for our children
by Volunteers. As a community club we aim to build a strong culture of volunteering, engagement and fun. We can't run a successful club without volunteers - you - our parents and carers.
Noooo... this sounds terrible I hear you gasping, I don't understand the rules! I couldn't hand pass a footy to save myself! It's OK - you don't need to have ever watched a game of footy to make a valuable contribution. You might provide some yummy half time oranges for the kids one week or wash and dry the team jumpers after a match. Everyone can make a difference!
Volunteer Roles
There are many volunteer roles at the club that are filled by parents, player families and community members throughout the year. The roles range from those with regular commitments every week, to some that take half an hour during or after the match on Sunday. You don't need to understand footy or have a lot of time to be able to make a difference at the club and for your child's team.
Permanent / season roles:
The following roles are filled for the season and require a couple of hours commitment per week. They are extremely valuable and rewarding roles for those who choose to undertake them.
- Coach
- Assistant Coach
- Trainer (first aid)
- Team Manager
- Match Day Manager

Ad-hoc and match day only roles:
These roles are perfect for parents/families who are short of time during the week but are often at the match watching their children play. Once the season is underway you will either be rostered by your Team Manager for match day roles in TeamApp or be able to volunteer and assign yourself.
- Umpires (boundary, field, goal)
- Time Keeper / Scorer
- Water Carrier / Filler
- Washing Team Jumper
- Half Time Oranges

Please speak with your Team Manager if you are unable to fulfill match day volunteer duties during the season.
